GreenWood Forest Park – Solar Splash Work Begins

Greenwood Forest Park are opening a brand new ride for 2015, which is to be called Solar Splash. Construction work is now progressing on the groundworks of this theme park ride, which certainly unique and one of a kind when it comes to water rides.

This water ride will be powered entirely by solar energy, pumping water to a height when it is released to propel the rider down a flume whilst they are sat on an inflatable boat! It’s known to be the first solar powered ride in the whole of the UK, and we’re very pleased to be part of the construction process for it.

More than £900,000 has being invested in this new ride – which is due to officially open in the spring of 2016. The 80 metre long ride includes a 12m tower that visitors have to reach through climbing a set of stairs. Atop the ride, visitors will also have fantastic views of the Snowdonia National Park.

After ascending the stairs, the visitors will then get into their inflatable boats and race down the chutes which will be flowing with water. Two of the chutes are straight with a few dips on the way down; the third is a spiral tube for added fun.

Greenwood Forest Park is located in Gwynedd, between the towns of Caernarfon and Bangor, and is a popular family activity centre. The park is known for its innovative rides, which includes a people powered roller-coaster, an impressive world-first of its kind. With so many unique attractions, it will be interesting to see what they come up with next.

As the main contractors, we will be providing the design and build of all the foundation works of the ride, as well as the installation of underground water tanks and high pressure pipelines. For more information on projects that we have worked on, visit our case studies page.
